ABSTRACT: Early childhood education (ECE) plays a crucial role in facilitating social network building among young children, essential for their social development and future relationships. This study explores how ECE programs contribute to social network formation in early childhood. The objectives are to (1) assess the development of social connections and friendships among children in ECE settings, (2) evaluate the influence of ECE on social interaction skills and relationship-building abilities, and (3) examine changes in children's social networks influenced by ECE participation. A survey design is justified to collect data on social network formation and qualitative insights into children's social interactions. A purposive sample of 140 children from preschools in Kano State was selected. The case study focuses on preschools recognized for their inclusive socialization programs. Findings indicated enhanced social connections, improved social interaction skills, and expanded social networks among children due to ECE participation. Recommendations include integrating social skills development into ECE curricula, promoting inclusive play-based activities, and supporting educators in fostering positive social relationships among young learners.
